    Starting from Saturday June 20th, 2020, VSDMA has decided to re-open Durga Mandir for devotees and visitors. All attendees will have to follow certain rules strictly set by provincial guidelines and VSDMA.

    Durga Mandir Ottawa is open during current Covid19 every day from 6 pm to 8 pm and Sunday from 11.30 am -1.30 pm for Darshan only.

     

    You must wear Mask and sanitize your hands before entering the temple. Please also note that we will strictly restrict the number of people in the temple as per the City of Ottawa guidelines.

     

    Please also note parking is free on Bank street after 5.30 on weekdays and all day on Sunday.

    RULES TO FOLLOW:

    - Wearing a mask is mandatory. Please bring your own mask.

    - Sanitize your hands before entering into the temple.

    - Maintain the rule of social distancing (Inside/outside of temple please be in queue and keep distance of at least 6ft. / 2 metres.

    - Please enter your details in the register/format provided by the volunteer.  

    - This time limited services available.

    - No touch allowed to any deities. Donations should be dropped directly into the donation Box.

    - No Langar/ Preetibhoj would be served. 

    - No home-made Prasad or sweets allowed except fruit(s) to bring or serve in the temple.

    - As a token of Prasad a piece of fruit could be taken from the bowl by devotee(s) him/her self. 

    - Washroom/Kitchen/Phone services are not accessible at this time.

    - Vulnerable / Weaker immune system / not feeling well people should refrain from entering into the temple. We strongly recommend that you stay home.

    While we are doing everything possible for your safety and ask for your full cooperation to keep our devotees and Ottawa Community safe. You will be attending Darshan / Services on your own risk.

  5. Please join HINDU TEMPLE at 4835 Bank Street in Ottawa for:

    Hindu Temple’s program “Lecture Series on the Brahma-Sutras” scheduled every alternate Wednesday by Dr. Kunnath Subramanian is on October 13th. Please join virtually.

     

    The next Youth Bhajan Program, scheduled on the first Saturday of every month, will be held on 6th of November from 5 – 6 PM. Youth from the community will be singing Bhajans and Devotional songs virtually.

     

    If you are 10 years or older and want to participate in the program, please send a reply email to hindutempleottawa@gmail.com with name of singer(s), name of the Bhajan that you would like to sing and duration that it will take to sing.

     

    The auspicious Durga Navaratri Festivals start on Wednesday, 6th of October and end with Dussehra on Thursday, 14th of October. On this week-long celebration, the following four events will be performed at the Temple, and all will be LIVE BROADCAST.

     

    Every evening during this week, Bhajan, Devistuti, Parayan (पारायण), Puja and Arati are conducted and will be live broadcast from 7 pm to 8 pm. For further information, please send a reply email at info@hindutemple.ca or call the Temple at 613-822-1531.

     

    1. Sri Durga SaptaShati (Devi Mahatmyam) Parayan and Sri Navachandi Yaag

    Devi Mahatmyam/Durga Saptashati will be recited from Wednesday, 6th of October to Friday, 8th of October from 6 pm to 7 pm and will be concluded with NavaChandi Yaag, starting at 9 am on Saturday, 9th of October. Join the Durga Saptashati recitation from homes in virtual readings.

     

    2. Akhand Ramayan Path (from 8 am, Saturday, 9th of October to 8 am Sunday, 10th of October)

    This auspicious event that was suspended for a few seasons will be revived, but virtually. If you can read a few dohe' and chaupai, please let us know the time that is convenient to you by sending a reply email. Also, during Navaratri let us enjoy the recitation of the melodious Ram Naam!!

     

    3. Global Sri Vishnu Sahasranama parayanam (9:30 am -12:30 pm, on Saturday 9th of October)

    The 13th Global Vishnu Sahasranama stotram will be chanted five times, followed by Suktams, Sri Laksmi Astotharashatnamavali, Archana, Puja and Arati. Please participate in Live Broadcast, chanting Sahasranamam and joining the global Satsang for world peace and prosperity.

     

    4. Ramayan SundarKand Recitation (11 am to 1 pm, on Sunday 10th of October)

    These auspicious ceremonies are performed to seek Durga Mata’s blessings for good health, prosperity and happiness for the family and for the World Peace.

    PLEASE DO NOT BRING AATAA, DAALS, SUGAR OR ANY KIND OF GROCERY AS THEY ALREADY HAVE SO MUCH IN STOCK THAT THEY ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY STORING THESE ITEMS.

     

    Instead of grocery items, please donate money to Gurdwara sahib that can be used in various projects. So, please, help in this matter and be blessed.

    ‘Giving Back to the Community’ is a cherished value of our rich Indian heritage. The Indo-Canadian Community Centre is committed to campaigning for the COVID-19 Relief Funds. We must all rise to give generously to 'HELP HUMANITY' against the 'WRATH of CORONA'. The need for funds is urgent and ICCC kindly appeals to all for continuing with their generous donations to help our brethren so that they can effectively deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in India.

     

    •ICCC has collected over $14,000 directly to-date for sending to EKAL Canada. The first installment of $10,000 to EKAL has already been transferred.

     

    •The severe 2nd wave Covid-19 crisis in India, impacting many in Ottawa’s Indo-Canadian community in numerous ways, has raised donations from ICCC life members, its associates, and others in Ottawa.

     

     ICCC is pleased to share with you the following information available to date, solely with an objective that you may reach out to your contacts and encourage additional donations for the Covid-19 crisis in India:

     

     - Rupees 500,000 cheque and over $20,000 donated via EKAL

     - Over $5500 donated via Red Cross

     - Other significant amounts donated via Sewa, Toronto and numerous other charities.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. ICCC - Social Network of Women (SNOW)  has raised over $4850 this year for its annual fund-raising event. These donations are for Interval House, Ottawa.

    ICCC in collaboration with- University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) will be holding a virtual “TeaTime with the Docs” event on May 28th at 2:00 PM. This educational fundraising event will be moderated by CTV Ottawa’s Leanne Cusack. You are kindly requested to register for this event.
