    Dear Devotees
On July 13, Government of Ontario announced stage 3 of the opening, according to which almost all businesses can return on Friday July 17, with safety protocols devised in stage 2 still in place.

Pursuant to this announcement, there are no major changes to be made at the Temple, as it is already open in full capacity, considering the physical distancing of 2 meter. The maximum number of people that can be present at the Temple at a point in time is still 50.

As you are aware, we have implemented all safety protocol and other guidelines provided by the government since the Temple opened on 15th of June. We greatly appreciate that you have been very cooperative in following these guidelines.

We are counting on you that you will continue to adhere to the guidelines that are in place at the Temple without a failing.

    Thank you!
    Executive Committee

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

    Dear Sadh Sangat ji,

We are excited to welcome everyone back to the Gurdwara Sahib as of Sunday June 14th, as we begin the process of re-opening the Gurdwara Sahib. At this time, we will only be open for Mattha-Tek, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day.  We will not be serving Langar or tea. Furthermore, washrooms and other parts of the building will not be accessible. We also ask for your patience as there could be a line up for Mattha-Tek and you might have to wait longer than usual.

As we are still under a Public Health Emergency from the Government of Ontario, we will be following all directives from all levels of government, including limiting the number of people inside at any one time.  We have put certain protocols in place to ensure everyone's health and well-being in order to reduce and eliminate the possible spread of COVID-19. We respectfully request your cooperation and patience as we gradually bring the Gurdwara Sahib back to full operations over the coming months.

As we work with the different levels of government, we are required to collect some data, which may help health officials with contact tracing in case of any possible COVID-19 cases.  Therefore, everyone who visits the Gurdwara premises will be asked to fill out a contact tracing form on arrival. These forms and any online data are deleted after 30 days and are not used for any other purposes. The data is only shared with public health officials in the instance of a COVID-19 case be linked to the Gurdwara Sahib.

Each person will be asked the following questions prior to entering the Gurdwara Sahib:
     1. Are you or anyone in your household experiencing any of the following:  fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, and/or shortness of breath?
    2. Have you or anyone in your household traveled outside of Ontario in the past 14 days?
    3. Have you or anyone in your household been investigated, tested positive, or been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

Your temperature will be checked with a no-touch thermal scan thermometer.

    Apart from that, you must:
    • Maintain a physical distance of 2 metres or 6' from other members of Sangat who are not part of your household.
    • Wear a mask or other face covering (covering mouth and nose) at all times while on the premises.
    • Bring your own head covering (rumaal/chunni) from home.
    • Wash or sanitize your hands upon entry and exit from the Gurdwara Sahib.
    • Avoid touching any surface unnecessarily.
    • Follow any instructions given by OSS committee members, Sevadars, or Giani jis.
    • Always act in a manner to ensure the safety of yourself and of others.
    • Stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of any illness.
    • Stay home if you have pre-existing health conditions that render you more vulnerable for COVID-19.
    • Stay home if you are designated as a vulnerable person with respect to COVID-19.
    • Leave at the conclusion of your Mattha-Tek without socializing or hanging out on the Gurdwara Sahib's  premises, including in the parking lot.
Lastly, please note that by attending the Gurdwara Sahib, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the Gurdwara Sahib, directors, sevadars or giani jis liable for any illness.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
    OSS Sevadar

    ICCC Communique #17 (June 2020)

Purpose: To provide an update on the activities and accomplishments of ICCC.

    ICCC COVID-19 Relief Fund:
“GREAT THINGS HAPPEN WHEN WE ALL WORK TOGETHER”
The Indo-Canadian Community Centre would like to congratulate and thank all those who have, to date, generously donated over $63,000 for its “ICCC COVID-19 Relief Fund”, and provided several “in-kind” contributions including face masks (1500+) and Indian cuisine (450+ meals) for frontline medical staff of Ottawa hospitals. ICCC’s initial donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation and Ottawa Food Bank are being matched and recognized by many (e.g. The Ottawa Hospital, FACES Magazine, Malhotra Foundation). Further, ICCC's initiative has kindly been mentioned by Mr. Chandra Arya, MP in Parliament, and by the High Commission of India in its “India Connect” monthly e-newsletter.

“Giving Back to the Community” is a cherished value of our rich Indian heritage. ICCC’s appeal to all in the community is to come forward and donate generously for this worthy cause. Your donation can be made to/via ICCC, or directly to the organization of your choice. Please do inform ICCC of your donations, if made directly to another organization, so that under ICCC’s new initiative, an Annual Report with “Total Donations made by the Indo-Canadian community in Ottawa” can be prepared for creating awareness in the mainstream. ICCC acknowledges cooperation from Deshantari of Ottawa-Carleton and Malayali Association of Ottawa in starting this collaborative process with ICCC. Kindly do share this information with your network to support ICCC’s various worthy causes so that they can also be recognized on the ICCC website as Donors, Volunteers and Supporters – by providing generous support and donations for the need of the hour.

Additional details for all above mentioned initiatives are available in the ICCC Virtual Community Centre (i.e. Portal & website: www.icccottawa.org).

ICCC & EKAL Vidyalaya in Kerala, India:
ICCC has donated $25,500 to EKAL Vidyalaya to fund 4 life time schools for deprived children, as well as for anemia treatment for 400 women under “Arogya Program” in Kerala, India. Please contact the ICCC Board for your donation to support EKAL programs in other areas also.

    ICCC Summer Students Program-2020:
ICCC will hire seven (7) summer students during 2020 to work on its various projects. Students interested in applying for a position are welcome to submit applications - see details posted on the website: www.icccottawa.org.

ICCC Seniors Virtual Zoom meetings are now attended by more than 80 seniors every Thursday (2:00-3:30 p.m.) and Friday (10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon). ICCC encourages all seniors in the community to join in to relieve from isolation, boredom, and loneliness.

ICCC Community Centre -- The key objective of ICCC:
The planned opening of the physical Community Centre in the “Rideau-Rockliffe Community Hub” is awaiting approvals from the authorities, and further delays are due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ICCC Virtual Community Centre - An Online Community Portal
(www.icccottawa.org) provides numerous platforms to bring the community together –these platforms are: Community Hubs, Community Programs, Community Forums, Social Media and the “Events Calendar” – all designed to provide a central "GO TO" place for community activity, news and events.

    OTHER INFORMATION:
Please understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted progress on many ICCC programs and activities - some events have either been cancelled or postponed until further notice. The ICCC Board will also make a decision on the Virtual AGM 2020 soon. Further, the ICCC Board of Directors and Program Chairs are working on numerous initiatives, and are striving hard to accomplish the new VISION for ICCC, i.e.
"A United Indo-Canadian Community Thriving in the Canadian Mainstream."

Please monitor the ICCC Portal & website: www.icccottawa.org for your one-stop source of current information about COVID -19 from all public agencies, ICCC programs and other community events, news, views, etc. and also for a wealth of other useful information available from other sources.

ICCC values “Unity in Diversity”, and kindly encourages all in the community to join and become a part of ICCC so that we can all together create enhanced awareness of the contributions by the Indo-Canadian community in Ottawa.

    Please Stay Safe & Healthy.

    Kind Regards.
